UAPB's West Sweeps Women's Soccer All-Conference Honors

ANNOUNCES WOMEN'S SOCCER ALL-CONFERENCE HONORS
The Southwestern Athletic Conference announced its 2008
Women's Soccer All-Conference Honors with University of
Arkansas-Pine Bluff freshman Jade West and Jackson State
senior Chioma Anosike claiming top honors.
West - a 5-foot-6 forward from Ajax, Ontario - was named
both the Conference's Player and Freshman of the Year
after completing a stellar first season in the SWAC. She
led the UAPB Lady Lions in goals (16), assists (13),
points (45) and shots (61). She had five multiple-goal
contests along with four multiple-assists games. She had a
season-high four goals against Central Baptist and three
goals at Alabama State. She also handed out three assists
against Alcorn State and had three contests with two
assists.
Anosike was a key factor in the JSU Lady Tigers' march to
the number one seed in the Eastern Division. The 5-foot-5
defender from Lagos, Nigeria played in 14 games for
Jackson State, registering one assist and seven shots. As
a team, the Lady Tigers were second in goals allowed (28)
and goals against average (1.85 / gm). JSU registered six
shutouts and 77 team saves.
Joining West on the all-conference first team were Ashley
Bailey (MVSU), Joslyn Jackson (AAMU), Mallory Dayot
(Alcorn State), Ashley Baker (GSU), Brittany Harrison
(JSU), Kate Johnston (MVSU), Eliza Mulzac (JSU), Belinda
Kanda (AAMU), Rachelle Dobbins (GSU) and Cherie Silas
(GSU).
Named to the second team were Angelica Singh (GSU),
Kendall Smith (SU), Kendra Fox (GSU), Kelly Torres (TXSO),
Erika Forbes (UAPB), Rachel Harker (UAPB), Saycha Mitchell
(TXSO), Allison Lane (JSU), Nicole Parks-Powell (UAPB),
Shadien Mars (JSU) and Naira Crimiel (JSU).
