PINE BLUFF, Ark.- After 110 minutes of highly competitive soccer the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff Lady Lions and Jackson State Lady Tigers ended with a 1-1 tie. The tie is UAPB's fourth of the season and moves the Lady Lions overall mark to 2-5-4.
Noah Mithrush scored Arkansas-Pine Bluff's lone goal late in the first half off a spectacular shot which found its way to the back of the net. The goal was Mithrush's second this season.
Jackson State brought the contest to a 1-1 all tie nearly four minutes into the second half on a goal by Chiome Anosike. Both teams battled fiercely for the duration of the second half and two overtime periods.
“I was extremely pleased with my teams' performance tonight,” said UAPB Head Coach Roberto Mazza. “I thought we were very physical and aggressive today. If we continue to play hard each and every game the sky will be the limit for this team.”
UAPB outshot Jackson State 16-12 and also accumulated a total of four shots on goal. Chelsea Klein tallied four saves during the outing including a critical stop late in regulation play.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff will host Southern on Sunday, Oct. 4th at 1 pm at the Lady Lions soccer field.
