PINE BLUFF, Ark.- The University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff football team didn't disappoint their fans at Homecoming as the Golden Lions cruised to a 38-12 victory over the Edward Waters Tigers.
Led by starting quarterback Josh Boudreaux the Golden Lions were able to capitalize off of two EWC turnovers and a solid rushing attack anchored by running back Dhabion Woodfin. The junior running back led all rushers with 98 yards on 13 carries with one touchdown.
A 27-yard Woodfin run in the first quarter put UAPB ahead for good with a 7-0 advantage. Remo Gay would up the Golden Lions lead to 14-0 after catching a Boudreaux strike across the middle for a 28-yard score.
The Golden Lions would go on to add four more touchdowns in the second half as they blew the game wide open after defensive back James Harrell returned a fumble 36 yards for a TD giving Arkansas-Pine Bluff a commanding 28-6 lead.
Micheal Witherspoon and Freddie Fairchild both had spectacular outings as the two combined for 16 stops. Witherspoon finished the game with nine tackles while Fairchild added seven. The victory over the Tigers gives UAPB a two game winning streak going into a pivotal Southwestern Athletic Conference match-up against Southern on Saturday, October 31st.
