FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.- The University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Team participated in their final meet prior to the 2009 SWAC Cross Country Championship on Saturday. UAPB ran at the Chili Pepper Invitational in what was a highly competitive meet.
UAPB’s Karla Atencio paced the Lady Lions team of runners as she finished with a time of 23:13. Monica Carillo finished second on the team with a time of 23:58. The men’s team was led by Jimmy Oribo who ran a time of 31:42 followed by Geoffrey Kosgei who finished the meet with a time of 32:16.
The 2009 SWAC Championship will been set for October 26th in Baton Rouge, La. After finishing in third place last year both teams will look to capture titles in what has shaped up to be one of the most highly anticipated meets of the year.
