ALCORN STATE, Miss.-The Lady Lions beat the Lady Braves of Alcorn State 8-0 on a very warm and sunny Sunday afternoon. It did not take long for Arkansas-Pine Bluff to get on the board as Nicole- Parks Powell scored three minutes into the game on a pass from Shantel Brown.
Parks-Powell finished the game with two goals. UAPB struck again in the 18th minute as Erika Forbes ran through the midfield from her defensive position and scored a superb goal that deflected off the goalie as she tried to save the fierce shot. Forbes finished the game with three assists and a career high of 5 points.
“Erika has been fantastic from the start of the season and she brings excitement to our team”, said UAPB Head Coach Roberto Mazza. “She really has developed her game to a new level this year”
Also getting on the scoreboard was Noah Mithrush, Taryn Wright, Casey Hogan, Chelsea Gordon, and Bre-Ann Laypoole. Chelsea Klein Recorded her eighth shutout of the season and is ranked 14th in the nation with a save percentage of 0.884.
The Lady Lions will conclude their regular season in a crucial match for the number one seed in the SWAC Western Division as they travel to face Grambling State University this Friday at 3:00 pm.
