WACO, Texas- The Arkansas-Pine Bluff Men’s and Women’s Cross Country teams respective seasons came to an end on Saturday as both teams competed at the 2009 NCAA Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Regional.
Overall the all of UAPB runners ran well as the meet marked the men’s teams’ debut on the national stage. UAPB finished in 11th place ahead of eight teams most notably LSU, Arkansas State, and Houston. Jimmy Orebo led all Golden Lions runners on the men’s side finishing in 27th place.
“This was very a successful season for both of our cross country programs,” said UAPB head coach Curtis Pittman. We’ve assembled a strong foundation to build on during the upcoming seasons and we’re excited about the runners we return next year. “
UAPB returns all of its runners from this season as they will look to repeat as SWAC Champions next season. The two teams combined to make history this season as they swept the 2009 SWAC Cross Country Men’s and Women’s Championships for the first time in school history.
