EL PASO, Texas- After taking a 19-8 lead during the first 13 minutes of play the UAPB Golden Lions basketball team wound up falling to the UTEP Miners in non-conference action on the road 70-52.
A 19-4 Miners run erased the Golden Lions 11 point advantage giving UTEP a lead they would not relinquish with 5:17 left to play in the first half. Arkansas-Pine Bluff tallied 21 points on 25 percent shooting from the floor in the second half which also led to UTEP’s resurgence during the contests final stanza.
The Golden Lions began the contest with hot shooting from the floor behind the offensive production of Terrance Calvin and Lebaron Weathers who lead UAPB in scoring with 13 and 15 points respectively.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff will now take a little more than a week off before returning to the hardwood to face Akron on Nov. 27th.
