Bookmark and Share
BRITISH COLUMBIA- Former University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff running back Martell Mallet has been named the Canadian Football Leagues’ Most Outstanding Rookie after a stellar debut season.

After arriving on the scene in Week 1, Mallet immediately made an impact in his first season as a Leo, including a 21-carry, 213-yard performance versus the East Division powerhouse Montreal Alouettes in Week 10, earning him the nod as the league’s Offensive Player of the Week.
Mallett’s selection also marks the third time in four seasons that a B.C. Lion has been selected as the league’s Outstanding Rookie (2006 – Aaron Hunt, 2007 – Cam Wake).

This year’s award winners were selected by 55 voting members, including representation from the Football Reporters of Canada (FRC) from the eight CFL markets, a national chapter and CFL head coaches. Mallett received a total of 35 first place votes.
