Lady Lions Advance To SWAC Championship Game

ITTA BENA, Miss.-SWAC Offensive Player of the Year Jade West scored the lone goal in the match to help solidify a 1-0 victory for Arkansas-Pine Bluff and a spot in the championship match.

West's goal came at the 39:02 minute mark in the first half. Shannon Ellis assisted the score that would prove to be the game-winning goal.

Second-team All-SWAC goalkeeper Chelsea Klein had eight saves in the game while recording her eighth shutout of the season.

The victory sends the Lady Lions to the programs first Championship appearance in school history. With the win the #2 ranked Arkansas-Pine Bluff will face the #3 ranked Prairie View A&M in Sunday's Championship match at 1 p.m.
