UAPB Track teams beat Alcorn State in dual track meet

PINE BLUFF, Ark.- Recently in a dual track meet held at the K.L. Johnson HPER Complex the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff indoor track teams defeated the Alcorn State University Indoor Track teams. The men’s team won by a 56 to 44 margin, while the women’s team defeated ASU tallying 66 points to Alcorn State’s 33 points.
In competition for the men, Danny Evans placed first in the 55 meter high hurdles with a winning time of 7.64. In the 300m Kenneth Esaw led the pack with a time of 36.82. Stephen Kipurui set pace in the mile with a first place time of 5:11.31.
As far as field events go it was sweep for UAPB’s Arthur Thomas in shot put with a throw of 13.88 m and in the weight throw with a toss of 16.06 m. Not to be outdone by his teammates Raymond Duplechain took the high jump with a winning leap of 6’ even.
In competition for the woman, Tracey Rivers ran away with two first place finishes. In the 55m she finished with a time of 7.20 and in the 150m she clocked in at 19.93. Jonae Prince-Coleman walked away with the 55m high hurdles with a time of 9.09. Betty Burna and Ester Adeyemi finished one two in the 300m times of 41.32 and 41.67, respectively.
 In the 450 m Chandra Walker set the pace with a winning time of 1:07.80. Jackie Chumo ran away from the pack with a first place finish of 5:55.06. The 4x300m relay team consisting of Ester Adeyemi, Betty Burna, Chandra Walker and Tracey Rivers took first place with a time of 2:40.06. Phalana Hemlee won both field events with a winning shot put of 13.11m and weight throw of 16.03. Monique Carroll took the high jump with a height of 5’2”.
