CONWAY, Ark.- Arkansas-Pine Bluff’s upset bid of the Central Arkansas fell short on Wednesday night as the Golden Lions dropped a 5-2 decision to the Bears.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff played well defensively as they held the Bears to just eight hits. Central Arkansas put runs on the board during the first, third, fifth, sixth, and seventh innings tallying one run during each inning.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff was able to put up one run on the board in the fourth inning cutting the Bears advantage two one run at 2-1. The Golden Lions added another run in the top frame of the ninth inning as shortstop Alex Huckabee continued his recent trend of hot hitting with a solo homerun to left field. The 6-2 infielder from Chicago, Ill. has now hit a total of four homeruns in his last four outings.
Up next for Arkansas-Pine Bluff is a three-game series versus the Grambling State Tigers on Saturday, April 25th and Sunday, April 26th. The first pitch is scheduled for on both days.
