BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff student-athlete Monique Carroll has been selected to serve on the NCAA Association-wide "Committee on Women's Athletics".
Carroll, a senior from New Boston, Texas, is a secondary health and physical education recreation major. She is the secretary for the conference level SAAC (Student-Athlete Advisory Committee) and is the Conference's national representative on the Division I Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
"I am looking forward to serving as a student-athlete representative on the CWA," Carroll said. "I am excited about the opportunity to give my input on issues that affect women's athletics. We have made progress toward achieving gender equity and complying with Title IX in athletics, but there is still work to be done. One of the more exciting topics I will get to deal with is whether Sand Volleyball should stay on the list as an emerging sport. Overall I am looking forward to a productive year on the CWA."
The purpose of SAAC is to enhance the total student-athlete experience by promoting opportunity, protecting student-athlete welfare and fostering a positive student-athlete image. SAAC members get to vote on actual NCAA propositions presented at conventions, at which Carroll was the SWAC representative.
