HUNTSVILLE, Ala.-The University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions football team let an opportunity to move to 3-1 on the season pass them by as they dropped a 28-7 decision to the Alabama A&M Bulldogs.
UAPB struggled offensively throughout the duration of the contest as the Bulldogs’ defensive unit was able to limit the Golden Lions to a total of seven first downs during the game. The lack of first downs forced Arkansas-Pine Bluff’s defense to be on the field for nearly 40 minutes in the game.
Quarterback Rontrell Bailey was unable to get on track as he was limited to 157 yards going 11-of-31 on the day with one touchdown pass. Alabama A&M was also able to stifle the Golden Lions rushing attack as they held UAPB running back Dexter Toney to minimal ground yardage.
Offensively AAMU ammassed over 400 yards of total offense highlighted by a 184 yard rushing performance by running back Ulysess Banks.
The loss drops Arkansas-Pine Bluff to 1-1 on the season in conference play and 2-2 overall. The Golden Lions will look to rebound on Thursday night in a highly anticipated match-up versus Alcorn State. The Braves lost to Southern last week 48-42.
