ITTA BENA, Miss.- The road weary Arkansas-Pine Bluff Lady Lions basketball team looked just that on Monday night as they lost their conference opener to rival Mississippi Valley State 80-68.
Two nights prior UAPB dropped the non-conference finale to Texas losing 114-53 in Austin, Texas. Against MVSU Arkansas-Pine Bluff looked out of rhythm for the majority of the contest as they struggled to gain any type of offensive continuity.
The Lady Lions lost by double-digits despite a 21 point scoring performance by Shay Holmes who also grabbed 10 rebounds capping off a double-double. Jasmine Blanks came off the bench to score 11 points on 4-of-8 shooting from the floor.
UAPB will now look to rebound on the road against Alabama A&M and Alabama State on Jan. 9th and Jan.11th respectively.
