PINE BLUFF, Ark.- The Arkansas-Pine Bluff Lady Lions basketball team got back to winning ways on Monday night with a convincing 78-58 win over Alcorn State at H.O. Clemmons arena.
Shay Holmes erupted for 20 points going 5-of-9 from the field and 10-of-11 from the free throw line. The win was the Lady Lions second SWAC victory of the season and their first at home. Amanda Hammond added 15 points and Chi-Chi Okwumabua scored 11 as UAPB steam rolled to an easy victory.
“Our team played with a lot of effort and determination tonight,” said UAPB Head Coach Cary Shelton. “If we play with that type of intensity every game we can compete with anybody in this conference.”
The Lady Lions will have the next few days off before traveling to Prairie View, Texas to face the Prairie View A&M Lady Panthers who currently sit in first place in the conference. Tip-off is set for 5:30 pm on Saturday.
