William Torrence

Dr. William Torrence is an Associate Professor in the School of Education at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. His scholarship centers on developing, implementing, measuring, and evaluating Educational Programs. Dr. Torrence has been an investigator on various grant-funded projects. He is the Principal Investigator for the National Science Foundation (NSF) funded Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Scholars Teacher Academy Resident System (STEM STARS) Program. He is also a Co-Principal Investigator for the US PREP/Texas Tech University funded “Perceptions of Classroom Management and Teacher Self-Efficacy” Research Program.

As a teacher, his major instructional areas include Applied Research & Statistics, Psychology of Sports, Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology, Educational Assessment, and Curriculum & Instructional Design. Dr. Torrence is also the NCAA Faculty Athletics Representative for the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC).

Past administration roles at the University include Chair of the Health, Physical Education, and Recreation (HPER) Department, Director of the Office of Research & Sponsored Programs (ORSP), and Chair (Interim) of the Curriculum & Instruction Department.
