UAPB PULLS OUT 45-43 TRIPLE OVERTIME WIN OVER ALCORN STATE ON ESPNU

ALCORN STATE, Miss. – The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Football snapped their three-game losing streak to Alcorn State with a 45-43 triple overtime win over the Braves, here Thursday night at Jack Spinks- Marino Casem Stadium, broadcasted live on ESPNU.
 
UAPB scored 16 fourth quarter points to tie the contest at 30-30 with 44-yard TD pass to Jonathan Hawkins with 5:55 left in the contest.  Then UAPB would get the ball back with 2:50 remaining in the contest as Dante McDonald scored from 11 yards out with 58 seconds left in the contest, capping a seven-play, 64-yard drive by the Golden Lions.
 
ASU would go for the win with six  second left in the contest as the Cory McCullough field goal would fall short , sending the game into overtime.
 
The Braves would get the ball first in the overtime period.  On bad quarterback exchange, ASU would fumble the ball on their own 10-yard line with the Golden Lions recovering the fumble.
 
Alcorn State's defense would send the contest into its second overtime as they recovered a UAPB fumble on the Golden Lions' 10-yard line.
 
UAPB took a 37-30 lead in the second overtime on a 10-yard run by Terry Montgomery.
 
Alcorn tied the contest at 37-37 on Johnson scamper from two yards out.
 
In the third overtime, ASU took a 43-37 lead on a Johnson four-yard run.  In the third overtime, a team must attempt a two-point conversion.  Shufon Alcorn knocked down a Johnson pass Jaborian McKenzie in the end zone to prevent the two-point conversion by the Braves.  ASU would get another try as UAPB was sighted for personal foul.  The UAPB defense came up big again with a stop as they sacked Johnson on ASU's second two-point try.
 
On the first play in the third overtime, Duncan tossed his fourth TD pass of the night to Willie Young from 25 yards out tying the contest at 43-43.   On the two-point conversion, Duncan would find Hawkins on a slant route in the end zone to give the Golden Lions the 45-43 win.      
 
 
UAPB took a 14-2 lead going into the second quarter with Willie Young catches his first TD pass of the season on a 27-yard reception from Brandon Duncan with 9:00 remaining in the quarter.
 
ASU got on the board late in the first quarter on a safety, when Duncan fell on a bad snap in the end zone at the 2:10 mark of the quarter.
 
On their very next possession, Duncan tossed his second TD pass of the game to Jaelen Collins from 80-yards out to give the Golden Lions a 14-2 lead.
 
ASU regained the lead in the second quarter on a pair of scores with Norlando Veals scoring on a 25-yard pass from Noah Johnson with 11:38 left in the second quarter.  Johnson would toss his second TD pass of the night on an acrobatic catch by LaDarrien Davis from eight-yards out with 5:30 to go in the quarter, giving ASU a 16-14 lead going into the break.
 
ASU opened the third quarter with a four-play, 71-yard drive to increase their lead to 23-14 on a Jaborian McKenzie 71-yard TD pass from Johnson.
